Sharing Raters and Ranking Information
One member asks, "Do you share detailed evaluation information from the external rater / rankers (e.g., MSCI, ISS, etc.) with your operational colleagues (e.g., HR, Marketing, Operations, EHSS)? How are you using this information to drive awareness and understanding?" Read More
Single Sustainability Metric
One member asks, "I’m trying to solve a little riddle and could probably use the network’s help. I’ve been asked “what’s the one measure/data point we can use to demonstrate to the ELT & board the progress we’re making across ESG… quarterly?” ESG ratings are a workable-but-less-than-perfect substitute; unfortunately most are annual. I’m looking for both advice on what that data point may be (though I suspect the best answer is still choose your favorite ESG composite rating, e.g., ISS Corporate Score) and on where to get it. What are people using to demonstrate the overall health of their ESG efforts?" Read More

German Supply Chain Due Diligence
One member asks, “For those pursuant to the upcoming German Supply Chain Due Diligence law, the law requires the appointment of a Human Rights Representative specifically. From an organizational perspective, we are looking to understand if companies are placing this responsibility within Procurement/Supply Chain, or in a broader corporate sustainability/ESG, Legal, or human rights function? Essentially, is your broader "value chain" look at Human Rights driving, or specifically "supply chain"? Also, we are looking to understand if others are considering this responsibility as an element of a senior leaders’ responsibilities (CPO, CSO, GC), or willing to bring in someone specifically to manage the strategy/execution explicitly for this purpose?” Read More
De-Carbonization Strategy Consultants
One member asks, "We are in the process of preparing an RFP for a Scope 1 decarbonization strategy project and I was wondering if you can ask the network for recommendations or input who they have used in similar projects and any watchouts to consider as we embark on this process. Scope 1 emissions are driven primarily by the combustion of fuels (primarily natural gas) to generate thermal energy / steam for our production processes. Other emissions include combustion of fossil fuels in on-site vehicles and emergency generators, biogenic emissions from fermentation processes, and use of refrigerant-containing equipment for HVAC." Supplier Resources
One member writes, "We are looking into consultants who help suppliers set science based targets – basically assisting companies who set Scope 3 targets to decarbonize their supply chain. Would love to know what consultants or external resources folks have used for this - from everything to making the online educational resources, to being an advisor to the supplier in their own emission reductions journey." Scope 3 Emissions Tracking
One member shares, "We are hoping to move from a spreadsheet/consultant-based method for calculating and tracking our annual Scope 3 emissions and are looking for an automated solution that can accommodate a mix of methods (e.g. spend-based, activity-based, and supplier-specific emission factors). Wondering if anyone has looked into or recommends any digital solutions?" Read More

Dual Materiality
One member asks, "Voluntary reporting frameworks are converging around dual materiality, as are emerging mandatory reporting regulations. Human rights and environmental due diligence similarly require annual processes to assess salient outward risks, and the classical enterprise risk management (ERM) requires annually assessing inwards risk. These processes can be time and data intensive. In my experience, they are also usually performed separately – partially because of how they naturally evolved, partially because of which department is responsible, and partially because it’s hard to focus on both directions of materiality at the same time and get a good outcome for multiple purposes. Has anyone developed a process or come across any easy tools, templates or tech solutions to help streamline and align the annual (sustainability) materiality, human rights risk assessments, and enterprise risk management processes? I would also be glad to speak with anyone willing to share their experience." Read More
