Kaya Axelsson is a research fellow for Net Zero Policy and Partnerships at the University of Oxford. Her work is dedicated to translating science into policy and standards for implementing and achieving net zero.
After years as a community organizer, Kaya moved to Oxford to work on connecting climate action communities internationally. She has earned distinction for her research on politically unlikely renewable energy coalitions. Her current research and engagement focus is on the emerging net-zero governance and regulatory landscape.
Kaya has served as a strategic advisor and technical expert to the UN-backed Race to Zero, the Science Based Targets initiative, and the International Standard Organization. With 15 years of experience in social and environmental sustainability, she convenes, speaks, and works regularly with organizations and governments on their net zero strategies.
