Anna Michael

As the sole sustainability professional at Schuman Cheese, Anna Michael leads climate strategy, greenhouse gas reporting, sustainable packaging initiatives and extended producer responsibility compliance across multiple U.S. states. 

Since joining the company in 2024, she has helped embed sustainability into business decision-making while advancing packaging circularity and climate disclosure programs. For example, Schuman Cheese achieved a 58 percent reduction in refrigerant emissions. Michael led the company’s first double materiality assessment, creating a roadmap for integrating climate risk and sustainability priorities into long-term business strategy.

Michael’s sustainability experience spans retail, food manufacturing and agricultural supply chains. Before joining Schuman Cheese, she supported Scope 3 emissions and sustainability reporting initiatives at OSI Group and developed supplier inclusion programs at ALDI USA. Combined with graduate studies in sustainable management, these experiences enable her to translate complex environmental challenges into practical business solutions as a sustainability team of one.
