Jatin Batra
Jatin Batra was part of the team that shepherds Microsoft’s high-durability carbon removal (CDR) investment portfolio. The projects span direct air capture, enhanced rock weathering and bioenergy with carbon capture. Microsoft is the largest corporate buyer of durable carbon removals.
As part of his work for Microsoft, Batra was involved with onboarding more than 15 suppliers to scale megaton-grade carbon removal design to last 10,000-plus years. He built the asset management engine and reporting loop for the portfolio. In a previous role at Tesla, Batra mapped battery supply chains and launched a shipping dashboard for the Megapack energy storage line, averting a 15 percent potential market loss in Tesla’s $60 billion energy business.
Early in his career, Batra, who has a degree in electrical engineering, focused on first-of-a-kind solar projects in countries including Afghanistan and Azerbaijan. Batra was also responsible for Indonesia’s largest floating photovoltaic installation and is credited for driving record low levelized energy costs for a solar project in Saudi Arabia.
