Liz Reichart
Energy efficiency professional Liz Reichart and the team she manages are responsible for Massachusetts’ large building energy reporting program, which covers 30,000 buildings, representing 33 percent of the state’s buildings sector emissions. The mission is to understand and address energy use through tools and building owner engagement.
Before starting her role for the state of Massachusetts in November 2024, Reichart worked at the Washington State Energy Office, where she developed and implemented the nation’s first building performance standard, which requires large commercial buildings to improve energy efficiency over time.
As part of her work in Washington, which is expected to address 27 percent of the state’s emissions before 2050, Reichart provided technical assistance to corporations and private building portfolios. She used their feedback to shape the policy.
Reichart has a public administration graduate degree in energy and environment. She researched the economics of the energy transition as a Fulbright Scholar in Germany.
