Mel Shank

Mel Shank  oversees day-to-day operations for Patagonia’s supply chain decarbonization program, managing the portfolio of emissions reductions initiatives identified across Patagonia’s textile supply chain. She also leads Patagonia’s efforts to adopt renewable energy for its global operations.

In 2024, Verra, a carbon standards organization, selected one of the projects Shank manages at Patagonia as a pilot to help develop a framework for how companies could more accurately account and disclose the impact of their investments in suppliers on Scope 3 emissions. Shank’s role was coordinating internally across Patagonia’s finance, legal and material development teams and externally with technical advisors, engineers and the supplier to facilitate Patagonia’s investment in the Verra pilot.  

Shank started her Patagonia career as an analyst in 2018. She has a degree in environmental studies.
