Shi-Zhou Tan

Shi Zhou Tan leads sustainability and compliance at Flint Labs, a climate-tech company developing paper-based, biodegradable batteries. 

From 2024 to 2026, Tan built greenhouse gas emissions accounting, life-cycle assessment and product compliance systems that cover Flint’s entire battery portfolio. That work demonstrated that Flint’s batteries have a 22 percent lower carbon footprint than conventional alkaline batteries. 

Tan also developed the company’s inaugural policies covering human rights, fair work, climate action and justice, equity, diversity and inclusion. He handles product compliance and sustainability requests for large global companies that have signed letters of intent to buy the company’s products — Flint’s pipeline stands at $2 billion. 

Before joining Flint in 2022, Tan led more than 20 sustainability assurance and consulting engagements at Singapore-based testing company SGS.
