CDP 2009 Global 500 Report

September 21, 2009
CDP 2009 Global 500 Report

The Carbon Disclosure Project‘s 2009 research charts what the world’s largest companies are doing to battle climate change. Companies are rated on the depth and scope of their disclosures and the quality of their reporting. And this year for the first time, firms are also rated on their performance in responding to climate change and reducing their contributions to the problem.

The CDP’s 2009 Global 500 and S&P 500 reports, produced by PricewaterhouseCoopers, were being released this week at the Climate Week conference in New York. CDP CEO Paul Dickinson previewed the reports exclusively for GreenBiz.com and ClimateBiz.com during the prior week and offered snapshots of the latest results of the annual study that is now in its seventh year.

The full research results are available at the CDP’s website, www.cdproject.net.

Prior years’ reports by the CDP are available at

The CDP said this year’s results reflect a numbers of “firsts,” including the greatest number of corporate responses in the history of the study as well as the most, and the most extensive, disclosures thus far.
