Cool Trends: 10 things cities are doing now to reduce greenhouse gases

The International Society of Sustainability Professionals set out to answer the following question: What strategies can communities and municipalities in the developed world implement now to reduce greenhouse gases that can be easily retrofitted into an existing community and offer multiple benefits?

Researchers focused on energy, transportation and waste as major sources of greenhouse gas emissions.Within each section are three or four basic suggestions for what a municipality can do to reduce greenhouse gases. Some of the leading actions include: vehicle carsharing, smart grid technologies, waste-to-energy projects and product stewardship programs.
