Environmental Performance and Shareholder Value

“Companies which rate highly for environmental performance yield better-than-average returns to shareholders” is the conclusion of a 1997 report by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development. The report resulted from an 18-month study by a WBCSD working group of experts from 40 companies. In the report, three executives, from DuPont, Storebrand, and Swiss Bank Corp., discuss successes from their own experiences and advise financial analysts and investors to recognize the actions taken by companies to improve their environmental performance.
