FedEx Corp. Hybrid Truck Fleet
In May 2004, FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corporation, announced that it had placed into service two hybrid diesel-electric delivery trucks. The hybrid trucks trucks improve fuel efficiency by 50%, and will significantly reduce emissions of carbon dioxide and other pollutants, such as particulate matter and nitrogen oxides. The project is managed by Environmental Defense’s Corporate Innovation team, a program that creates partnerships with companies to promote practical and economical business innovations with environmental benefits.
The development and use of the FedEx OptiFleet E700 Hybrid Electric Vehicle in regular service marks a substantial commitment by FedEx Express to operate in an environmentally responsible manner.
