Growing Pains: Quality of Life in the New Economy
The report explores the environmental and community consequences of growth and development. It lays out the negative impacts of suburban-area development and urban area neglect. It also develops three laws of growth, useful for understanding the character of urbanization and developing policy to address it. The report profiles actions taken by various governors to address this growth problem and develops a generalized list of things that governors can do to address growth in their state. While directed at state government, this report also is relevant for businesses wishing to further understand growth and development issues and perhaps work with government to subdue excessive suburbanization.
