Henkel Group KGaA Lowering Hazardous Waste Treatment and Disposal Costs

Henkel Consumer Adhesives is part of the Henkel Group KGaA and currently employs 450 staff at its site in Winsford, Cheshire. The consumer adhesives business has a current turnover of approximately $176 million/year and is a direct supplier to many large retailers. The company manufactures a wide variety of branded products such as Pritt Stick, Loctite, Solvite, No More Nails, UniBond, Sellotape and Nitromors Paint Stripper.

As part of the company’s drive for continual improvements within the framework of its ISO 14001 environmental management system, and in response to rising hazardous waste treatment and disposal costs, Henkel undertook a review in 2004 to reduce the volume of hazardous waste.
