Influence of Packaging on Wine Preservation

During a one-year study, the Institute of Vine and Wine Sciences (ISVV) of Bordeaux examined how different types of packaging affected the amounts of certain gases in wine packaging and the wines’ taste and color.
The study looked at red and white Bordeaux wines in 75cl and 18.7cl glass, single-layer PET and multi-player PET bottles, and bag-in-box packaging, finding that white wines started oxidizing significantly after six months.
