International Efforts to Reduce Perfluorocarbon Emissions from Primary Aluminum Production
In early 1999, ten countries — including the U.S. — established government-industry partnerships with aluminum manufacturers to reduce emissions of perfluorocarbons, a harmful greenhouse gas. This report, released less than a year later, details the emissions-reduction programs undertaken by each country, including technical information on the successes and challenges of each program. The report also offers an overview of PFC generation in the aluminum-production process. It wraps up with projections for future initiatives to reduce PFCs.
