The Noisette Project: Our Journey to Sustainability”
This 46-page report details the work of the Noisette Company LLC and its project with North Charleston, S.C., to restore and revitalize 3,000 acres of the city’s historic urban core to create a community that is socially, economically and environmentally sound.
Company President, CEO and cofounder John L. Knott Jr., a third-generation builder who is hailed as a community development visionary, discussed the project at the West Coast Green conference that was held September 24 to 27 in San Jose, Calif.
Knott participated in the keynote presentations for West Coast Green in addition to being a featured speaker in conference sessions. In his opening day talk, Knott shared with the audience the philosophy that has guided his family’s work and that of the Noisette project team. “Every action we take is for life,” Knott said. “We are in the human habitat business, not the building business.”
The triple bottom line for the Noisette team addresses “people, planet and prosperity,” he said. “We believe in social, economic and environmental success for everyone long term,” Knott told the audience.
