Partnering for Sustainability: Managing Nonprofit Organization-Corporate Environmental Alliances
A new breed of nonprofit and corporate leader “is trading tension and distrust for collaboration to improve corporate environmental practices in significant and lasting ways,” says this 2001 study. It centered around a content analysis of the audited environmental performance reports of multinational corporations to determine “their current strategies and collaborations for promoting sustainable environmental management.” It selected 50 large companies that together represent more than $1.8 trillion in worldwide annual sales and employ more than 5.3 million people. The researchers analyzed various types of collaborative activities that corporations and nonprofits have undertaken.
