Visible and Concrete Energy Savings

What does it take to make people save energy? This new study by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy profiles 10 programs that successfully combine consumption data and social science concepts in energy efficiency and conservation programs.
The report, “Visible and Concrete Savings: Case Studies of Effective Behavioral Approaches to Improving Customer Energy Efficiency,” examines six building and utility-related programs, two operated by companies and two transportation-related efforts. The examination of the company and transportation-related programs is a first, according to the ACEEE.
The organization’s case studies look at programs conducted by Alcoa, Dow Chemical Company, Kansas City Power & Light, the Cape Light Compact and GroundedPower, California, the Sacramento Utility District and Opower, the Salt River Project, Hyrdo-One, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and France.
