Join us for a field trip to Don Edwards National Wildlife Refuge hosted by the San Francisco Bay Wildlife Society, which supports education, interpretation, and research activities to nurture understanding and stewardship of San Francisco Bay’s wildlife refuges. Located in America’s largest urban national wildlife refuge, this 30,000-acre “wildlife oasis in an urban sea” provides critical habitat for millions of migratory birds and endangered species while offering unique opportunities to study ecosystem health indicators in an urban setting.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Walk & Talk Tour of Don Edwards refuge trails and wetland habitats
  • Learn hands-on bird monitoring techniques used to assess ecosystem health
  • Speak with experts about using avian indicator species for biodiversity assessment and conservation planning
  • Transportation provided to the refuge and back to the San Jose Convention Center

SHUTTLE SCHEDULE

  • 8:30am – Bus onboarding
  • 9:15am – Arrive at wildlife refuge
  • 9:30am – Start tour
  • 11:00am – End tour
  • 11:15am – Head to San Jose
  • 12:00pm – Arrive to venue
