Alex Michalko is the Director of Climate & Responsible Sourcing for Sustainable Impact and Compliance at HP. In this role, Alex is responsible for driving strategies to reduce carbon emissions, advancing sustainable forestry practices, and ensuring alignment with global climate goals and compliance standards to support the organization’s environmental and sustainability commitments. Additionally, Alex oversees Human Rights and Supplier Engagement, encompassing Human Rights-related supplier initiatives.
Alex joined HP in 2024 and brings 20-plus years of sustainability expertise across technology, retail, media, and real estate, including leadership roles at Amazon, REI, and The Walt Disney Company, in addition to a research fellowship at Project Drawdown.
Most recently, Alex led supply chain decarbonization efforts at Amazon, where she launched the company’s first sustainability report and developed tools for ~2 million selling partners to create more-sustainable products.
Alex earned a bachelor’s degree in international relations from Stanford University and both an MBA and a master’s degree in environmental management from Duke University, with concentrations in strategy, environmental economics and policy, and social entrepreneurship.
