Dr. Alicia Karspeck is co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer at [C]worthy, a non-profit research organization developing open-source software for the quantification of ocean-based carbon dioxide removal. She was previously Director of Earth Information programs at SilverLining where she led strategic initiatives to accelerate the use of Earth system models and observations for deeper understanding of climate interventions. Prior to her work in the non-profit space, Alicia spent time in the private sector leading research teams at climate analytics (Jupiter Intelligence) and financial risk (Fabric Risk) startups. She spent her scientific career at the National Center for Atmospheric Research, working for over a decade on seasonal-to-decadal climate prediction and leading the development of the global coupled data assimilation system for the Community Earth System Model (CESM). Alicia currently sits on the scientific advisory boards of the climate-tech startup, Salient, and was the co-founder of an influenza prediction consulting firm (SK-Analytics). She serves on multiple NOAA scientific advisory boards. She holds bachelors and masters degrees in mechanical engineering, and a Ph.D. in climate science and oceanography from Columbia University.
