Dr. Andrew Jones is a chemical engineer, inventor, and entrepreneur known for his work in energy and environmental sustainability. He is the CEO and Co-Founder of Carba, a carbon dioxide removal (CDR) company, and the Founder of Activated Research Company (ARC), which specializes in advanced analytical technology for scientific research and diagnostics.
Dr. Jones holds degrees in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, and earned his Ph.D. in chemical engineering from UC Berkeley. Through ARC, he has developed analytical products for pharmaceutical drug development, CO2 measurement, and biofuel/pyrolysis analysis. ARC’s collaborations with NASA, the National Science Foundation, and the National Institutes of Health have earned awards including multiple R&D 100 Awards, Tekne Awards, and Best New Product Awards.
In 2021, Dr. Jones co-founded Carba to address climate change through large-scale carbon dioxide removal. Carba’s technology captures atmospheric CO2 and stores it underground as solid carbon.
Dr. Jones has received numerous awards, including the Neil Armstrong Award of Excellence, Astronaut Scholarship, the 35 and Under Young Entrepreneur Award, and the MN Cup Winner. He holds five patents and is committed to innovation and sustainability.
