Andrew (“Andy”) Thompson serves as Global General Manager of Strategic Sustainability Partnerships and Assistant General Counsel, Environmental & Regulatory, for Bridgestone Americas, Inc. A lawyer by training, Andy applies his diverse background in environmental law, policy, communications, non-profits, and business in providing strategic sustainability leadership in managing risks and advancing solutions through tire industry efforts and within broader stakeholder ecosystems.
In his roles for Bridgestone, Andy serves as the Chair of USTMA’s EHS Policy Committee, a member of the Tire Recycling Foundation Board and Executive Committee, and as Chair of Executive Committee for the Global Platform for Sustainable Natural Rubber, which he helped launch in 2018. He also an Action & Engagement Co-Chair, as well as a current member of the Legal Task Force, for the Tire Industry Project.
Andy has a B.A. from the University of Virginia (History; Environmental Sciences), a Master of Studies in Environmental Law from Vermont Law School, and a J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law, where he served as the Editor in Chief of the Case Western Reserve Law Review. He holds a Global Certificate in Corporate Sustainability through a joint program between the University of British Columbia’s Sauder School of Business and Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management.
