Farmer, April Farms & Rafter H Farms
April has operated her family century farm for over forty years, located in north central Iowa. It consists of corn, soybeans, pasture. With soil health and conservation top of mind. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from Iowa State University. Over her many years of active farming she has had the opportunity to serve on many local, state and national boards. Most recently being the United Soybean Board, serving on the Executive Committee as the Demand Chairman. Along with her leadership she has received many awards most notably the Iowa Master Farmer of 2024.
Through the years she has had spoke internationally about how U.S. farmers raise their crops sustainably. She is also a contributor on NPR’s Marketplace and has been a guest on the NYT The Daily, among many other media outlets. April enjoys hosting guests on her farm to show them how production agriculture operates and can be sustainable.
