Beth Spurgeon
I currently lead PwC’s Sustainability and Social Impact Center of Excellence. This CoE centralizes internal sustainability and corporate responsibility initiatives for the firm across its US, Mexico and overseas acceleration center footprint. I spearhead the firm’s internal environmental and social impact strategies connected with its 70,000 employees, with a strong focus on the firm’s net zero commitment. My work activates PwC’s purpose to build trust in society, solve important problems and to create a fulfilling employee experience.
Prior to PwC, I held roles leading enterprise sustainability and human rights initiatives at Wells Fargo and the corporate responsibility function in North America for ArcelorMittal steel and mining. My experience also includes almost a decade in the social impact sector, working in nonprofits ranging from grassroots to national organizations.
I earned my M.A. in Social Science from The University of Chicago and am an Aspen Institute First Movers Fellow. I currently serve on the Board of Trustees for Net Impact and The Living Classrooms Foundation. Originally from Colorado, I now live in Maryland with my husband and two amazing children. In the winter you can find me on the ski slopes, and in the summer I’m at the ballpark hunting for the perfect soft pretzel.
