David Abel

David Abel, PhD is the manager of policy and strategy in energy management for NextEra Analytics, Inc. (NEA), a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources, the world’s largest generator of renewable energy from the wind and sun, a world leader in battery storage and a driving force in the development of the green hydrogen economy. NEA develops forecasting and optimization solutions that enable low-cost sustainable power systems, and Mr. Abel focuses on bidding and dispatch algorithms for resources from behind-the-meter smart thermostats to 300 MW wind farms. Prior to joining NextEra Energy Resources, Mr. Abel worked at the intersection of energy research and practice at institutions across the public, private, and NGO spheres. David holds a Ph.D. in energy analysis and policy, a master’s degree and bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, all from the University of Wisconsin – Madison.
