Destin Whitehurst

Destin Whitehurst is Head of Carbon Investments at NatureRe Capital. Since 2020, he has been catalyzing capital flows into nature, coordinating multidisciplinary teams to identify, diligence, and structure investments in early-stage carbon projects. His track record spans terrestrial reforestation, mangrove restoration, and agroforestry initiatives across Latin America, East Africa, and Southeast Asia. Beyond carbon, Destin has led biodiversity-focused initiatives to reform harmful subsidies and establish financing mechanisms for Protected Areas, advising national governments and UNDP country offices. Earlier in his career, he spent nearly a decade advising Fortune 500 companies with Deloitte Consulting. He holds a BA in Finance from the University of Notre Dame, an MBA from the University of Texas, and serves as Advisory Board Vice Chair of the Biodiversity Institute at the University of Kansas.
