
Jonathan Lane
Prior to joining DOE, Jonathan was Vice President of Infrastructure Innovation & Green Economy at the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC). At EDC he drove a multidisciplinary, cross-divisional team of architects, planners, strategists, ecosystem builders, asset managers, and policy experts, working together to build a generational strategy – released in February 2024 as the “NYC Green Economy Action Plan” – to build and invest in making New York City a thriving, equitable, global hub for the green economy. He also oversaw the inception, design, launch, and execution of various public-private partnerships, venture studios, innovation challenges, creative financial tools, and other enabling infrastructure to equitably grow and diversify New York City’s economic base. While in New York City he also held roles as Co-Chair of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Technology & Innovation Council, a 2022 Leadership New York: Coro Fellow, and a 2020 Urban Design Forum: Forefront Fellow.
Prior to NYCEDC, Jonathan spent time in venture capital, impact investing, and international development, including four years as an Economic Development Advisor in the U.S. Peace Corps in both Costa Rica and El Salvador. Jonathan holds a Masters in Public Administration from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, an MBA from MIT’s Sloan School of Management, and a BBA in Finance from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.
