Liza Schillo
For over a decade, Liza has held leadership roles in corporate sustainability, most notably at Levi Strauss & Co. At Levi’s, she spearheaded the development of the company’s first science-based climate target, setting a new industry benchmark. She also crafted a comprehensive climate action plan, engaging more than 100 top Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers and achieving LEED certifications for multiple distribution centers. Liza’s tenure at Levi’s also included establishing the company’s ESG disclosure program, overseeing the publication of its first annual sustainability report aligned with GRI, TCFD, and SASB standards. Additionally, she led the creation of Levi’s inaugural sustainable fiber strategy, which centered on responsibly sourced cotton, and a process for substantiating product sustainability claims.
Liza continued her impact in sustainability as Director of Sustainability at Perfect Day, a pioneer in alternative dairy protein. There, she identified and prioritized the company’s most material sustainability issues, developed a social and environmental stewardship strategy, and collaborated with Marketing and Sales teams to enhance customer and consumer engagement.
Most recently, Liza served as Global Retail Lead at Cargill, partnering with major retailers Walmart and Costco to develop strategies for reducing shared environmental footprints. Her work emphasized regenerative and traceable agricultural processes to address critical issues around carbon, water, and biodiversity.
Today, Liza is the founder of Lamplight Sustainability, a consulting firm dedicated to helping companies navigate complex sustainability challenges with confidence, intelligence, and humility. She draws on 15 years of experience to guide corporate clients in building impactful sustainability strategies.
Liza holds an MBA and a Master of Environmental Management from Duke University and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
