Michael Chang is Vice President of Energy and Sustainability at Host Hotels & Resorts, an S&P 500 company, and the largest lodging REIT and one of the largest owners of luxury and upper-upscale hotels. He leads Host’s 2050 net positive vision, driving responsible investment strategies that create value through climate, resiliency, decarbonization, resource efficiency, sustainable finance, green building certifications, biodiversity, and supply chain innovation. Michael also overseas ESG disclosures, including Host’s Corporate Responsibility Report, TCFD and SASB disclosures, and GRI-aligned reporting, while maintaining Host’s leadership in investor-driven ESG rankings and frameworks. He serves in leadership roles on sustainability committees at the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) and the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (Nareit), helping shape industry best practices on sustainability. Prior to Host, Michael was a sustainability leader at Deloitte Consulting, advising Fortune 500 companies across real estate, consumer products, retail, media, and technology on sustainability strategy, resource and supply chain management, and ESG disclosures. He holds an M.A. in International Energy Management and Policy from Columbia University and a B.A. in Economics from New York University
