Miya Howell
Miya is a recognized thought leader and external advocate, actively shaping global dialogue on climate and land use through engagement with industry groups, NGOs, government agencies, multi-stakeholder collaboratives, and secondary accounting standards. Her work influences policy frameworks and industry standards, ensuring agriculture plays a pivotal role in achieving global climate goals.
Her role encompasses Strategic Alignment: Embedding climate objectives into business strategy and portfolio decisions; Innovation Leadership: Incubating ventures that deliver measurable GHG reductions and farmer profitability; External Advocacy: Representing Bayer in global coalitions to influence frameworks such as CSRD, ISSB, SBTi, and emerging carbon accounting standards; Stakeholder Engagement: Building partnerships across NGOs, policymakers, registries, and industry to scale climate-positive practices.
With a career spanning scientific research and strategic leadership, Miya previously guided Bayer Crop Science’s portfolio strategy for Biotechnology, Seed Treatments & Biologicals, and Digital Agriculture. She holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics and completed postdoctoral research in Plant Biology and RNAi. A published scientist and innovator, Miya has co-authored more than 20 patents and publications.
