Oswald Deuchar

Global Head of Modernization Program & North America, China, India Regional Service Manager, Motion Services division
ABB
Oswald Deuchar is Global Head of Modernization Program and Regional Service Manager for North America, China, and India at ABB’s Motion Services division. He works with industries across the world to extend the productive life of installed motors, generators, and drives – helping operators cut downtime, improve energy efficiency, and move toward more sustainable industrial operations.

Oswald joined ABB in 2006 and has built two decades of experience across underground mining, hoisting systems, operations, product management, and sales. As Global Product Line Manager for Hoisting, he led the development of the world’s first mine hoisting system to achieve full Safety Integrity Level 3 (SIL 3) certification, and a standardized digital hoist control platform deployed at operations worldwide. His earlier work in South Africa, one of the world’s most demanding deep-mining environments, gave him a strong grounding in large-scale hoisting projects and complex industrial engineering.

Before his current appointment in August 2025, he served as Global Head of Modernization Service Line at ABB Motion Services, where he made the case for updating aging industrial assets rather than replacing them outright, driving lower lifecycle costs, reduced material waste, and improved energy performance across customer operations.

He holds an MBA in Business Administration and Management and an Electrical and Electronic Engineering Degree from Potchefstroom Business School, South Africa.
