Originally from Panama City, Panama, Rafael received his BS in Chemical Engineering (2010) and MS in Material Science (2012) from Florida State University. His 12-year career at Cummins has spanned across various business segments and technical roles, including product engineering for catalyst components in new product launches for the Emissions Solutions business, product salvage R&D for the Remanufacturing business, emissions compliance functional excellence for the Product Compliance and Regulatory Affairs organization, and most recently as Global Environmental Sustainability and Compliance Leader for the Distribution segment, which is part of the company’s aftermarket operations. He’s co-inventor in 3 patents, fluent in 4 languages (Spanish, English, French, and German), and is currently pursuing a Professional Certificate in Sustainability from MIT. He enjoys spending time with family and their 96-pound Labrador-Husky dog Chalten, running and golfing (when time allows), and travelling to visit family in Europe and Panama or to explore new places.
