Ryan Melsert

Ryan Melsert, CEO and CTO of American Battery Technology Company (ABTC), is a pioneering leader in sustainable critical battery mineral manufacturing. With over 20 years of experience, Melsert has driven innovations such as the commercialization of battery recycling technologies and the production of battery-grade lithium hydroxide from Nevada’s claystone reserves at ABTC. Previously, he was a founding member of the Tesla Gigafactory design team and worked as R&D Manager Battery Materials Processing, playing a key role in commercializing the world’s first battery Gigafactory. Awarded the prestigious BASF Circularity Challenge, Melsert has authored influential publications, secured patents, and been awarded several competitive federal renewable energy projects, many of which in partnership with Argonne National Lab. A Penn State and Georgia Tech alumnus, he combines engineering expertise with business acumen to redefine sustainable energy solutions and set global benchmarks for ethical innovation.
