Sam Gooch

Sam has been a program manager at Waymo – part of Alphabet – for 7 years. Sam discovered that every 401(k) option at Alphabet included fossil-fuel stocks – and that options without fossil fuels would actually net employees more money. He campaigned to add green 401(k) options to the plan lineup – conducting shareholder meetings, organizing an employee petition and running events for employees to raise awareness.  Sam also completed an energy audit for Waymo’s AI and driving operations and used these findings to convince Waymo’s CEO to hire a full-time sustainability lead. Sam previously worked at Apple and DNV-GL.
