Shawn Feikema

Farmer
Feikema Farms
Shawn Feikema is the owner and operator of Feikema Farms in Luverne, Minnesota, where his family grows corn and soybeans, raises cattle, and produces agricultural feedstocks for low-carbon fuels, including sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). A fourth-generation farmer, Feikema is deeply committed to climate-smart and regenerative agricultural practices that improve soil health, reduce emissions, and strengthen rural communities.

At Feikema Farms, sustainability is both an environmental responsibility and a business imperative. The operation uses practices such as conservation tillage, organic nutrient management with livestock manure, residue management, and reduced synthetic fertilizer use to lower its carbon footprint while maintaining high yields. These practices position American farmers as essential partners in decarbonizing hard-to-abate sectors like aviation.

Feikema is an active voice in national conversations around climate, agriculture, and energy policy. He advocates for U.S.-based solutions that recognize and reward the efficiency, innovation, and sustainability of American farming, particularly as policymakers consider frameworks for SAF tax credits and carbon accounting. He has firsthand experience with international sustainability certification systems and works to ensure that emerging policies are practical, science-based, and aligned with U.S. agricultural realities.

Through his work, Shawn Feikema represents how American farmers can help meet growing global demand for food, fuel, and fiber—while contributing meaningfully to climate solutions made in the US
