As Global Manager of Energy Initiatives at The Wendy’s Company, Thomas enjoys the opportunity to work on a broad range of energy related topics including Wendy’s participation in community solar with partners such as Ampion, Duke Energy of Florida and their Community Energy Connection program, and Florida Power & Light’s Solar Together program. Thomas and the Energy Team at Wendy’s administer and manage the Wendy’s Energy Challenge, a franchisee engagement program, modeled after DOE’s Better Buildings Challenge, to reduce energy use and expense at restaurants. He has also managed procurement, EMS, HVAC upgrades and water conservation initiatives and works with the Corporate Social Responsibility team to achieve Wendy’s Science Based Target emissions reduction goals. Prior to joining Wendy’s in 2021, Thomas worked for over 10 years on energy management, and remote commissioning in grocery retail and distribution. Thomas started his career in water conservation and valuation. In addition to being a Certified Energy Manager, Thomas has a degree in economics from the University of Wyoming and a Master of Environmental Management from Duke University’s Nicholas School of the Environment.
