
Verity Chegar
Ms Chegar brings more than 20 years of investment experience to her role. She joined the ISSB from California State Teachers’ Retirement System (CalSTRS), where she led the pension fund’s policy on sustainable investment and stewardship issues and managed the fund’s work to reach its net zero ambition.
Ms Chegar previously worked at BlackRock, where she led the integration of sustainability considerations into investment processes across the firm’s global portfolio management group. She also advanced the consideration of material environmental and social issues within the firm’s global investment stewardship team. Before BlackRock, Ms Chegar was an analyst at Allianz Global Investors, where she was responsible for researching and rating the sustainability performance and outlook of global technology and global healthcare companies for investment implications.
Ms Chegar’s standard setting experience includes serving on the SASB Standards Board as an inaugural board member from 2017 and as Co-Vice Chair from 2018 to 2022. She also served as Board Liaison to the SASB Standards Investor Advisory Group. Ms Chegar began participating in SASB’s standard-setting process in 2014 as a member of the SASB Standards Council’s Sub-Committee on Metrics.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree from Mount Holyoke College in the US.
