Truterra, the sustainability business of Land O’Lakes, helps scale on-farm stewardship by working with and through agretailers. The Truterra business is built on the idea that farmer return-on-investment can generate an environmental return-on-investment. With access to conservation expertise and the latest tools and technology, Truterra helps farmers make decisions about managing their soil – such as adopting minimum or no-till practices, optimizing fertilizer management or planting cover crops – that can both maximize yields and expand stewardship. Truterra collaborates with conservation organizations, government agencies (including USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service) and value chain partners to create new opportunities for added value through innovative market mechanisms such as carbon dioxide removal credits and pay for-success water quality programs.
