Date/Time: Wednesday, October 16, 10 AM ET to 10:40 AM ET

Volvo’s heavy-duty electric trucks have traveled almost 50 million miles delivering loads for customers like Amazon and PepsiCo since hitting the road in 2019. In 2023, Volvo represented 44 percent of all electric trucks sold in the U.S. These vehicles, along with models that run on hydrogen-fuel cells, green hydrogen and biogas, are central to Volvo’s goal to deliver 100 percent fossil fuels-free vehicles by 2040. Delivering on this pledge will require close partnerships with many stakeholders, including policymakers, competitors and customers.

Trellis Editor-at-Large Heather Clancy will discuss that partnership ecosystem and more with Volvo Group Chief Sustainability Officer Karin Svensson, a 25-year industry veteran, on the next episode of Climate Pioneers, a live interview series that features innovators working to mitigate the climate crisis.

The conversation will cover:

  • How Volvo and Amazon planned a 50-vehicle fleet in Southern California
  • Key partnerships that enable charging infrastructure and adoption of materials such as green steel
  • The low-down on a Volvo electric truck due in 2025 with a range of 373 miles
  • The potential for other heavy-duty electric vehicles, such as buses or excavators
  • How Volvo counts customers’ avoided transportation emissions toward net zero
  • Why Volvo sees fossil fuels-free as a significant opportunity to grow market share
  • Svensson’s tips for winning buy-in from leadership, prioritizing emissions reduction initiatives, and more

Join live to ask Svensson your questions. Or register to watch the recorded interview and read the transcript. Key insights and case studies will be published after the conversation.

Guest: Karin Svensson, chief sustainability officer, Volvo Group
Interviewer: Heather Clancy, editor-at-large, GreenBiz
