Amy Brown

Amy Brown works to ensure that our food system prioritizes public health, community sovereignty, and environmental protection. This means less use of antibiotics and toxic chemicals in agriculture and better access to healthy menus for consumers. Prior to joining NRDC, Brown was a senior program officer at the Ford Foundation, where she worked on civic engagement and government accountability, with an emphasis on building the political and economic power of people and communities of color. Brown also has a deep commitment to food issues. She ran an emergency food program, advocated for policies that address the root causes of hunger, and worked for the U.S. Senate Agriculture Committee, where she focused on food stamps, child nutrition, and health care legislation. Brown holds bachelor's and master's degrees from Columbia University. She is based in NRDC's New York office
