Hans Sy

Hans Sy is the President of SM Prime Holdings, Inc., the Philippines’ largest property conglomerate with interests in malls, condominiums, offices, hotels and convention centers, as well as leisure properties. From the first mall in SM North EDSA in the 1980s, SM Prime has grown to 50 malls in the Philippines and five in China, including one planned in Tianjin China which will be the world’s largest and will make extensive use of solar energy. SM Prime is also a dominant player in the Philippine residential business, offering affordable luxury in convenient locations.Closest to Sy's heart is his advocacy on the environment which is closely integrated in all the developments of SM Prime. As a result, Hans Sy is part of the prestigious United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UNISDR) Private Sector Advisory Group as he continues to show leadership in disaster risk reduction through initiatives of the company.Sy has served as Director of SM Prime since 1994 and as President since 2004. He is also a Director and Chairman of China Banking Corporation, Director of Highlands Prime, Inc. and is an Adviser to the Board of SM Investments Corporation, the country’s largest conglomerate.He is a mechanical engineering graduate of De La Salle University.
