Joseph Womble

Joseph Womble is a research analyst in the U.S. Energy program. He supports local governments' clean energy goals by addressing knowledge barriers to engagement in resource planning, wholesale market processes, and various other regulatory processes. He also works to advance the participation of low-income communities and community-based organizations in the clean energy economy. Prior to joining WRI, Joseph worked as a consultant and completed several government affairs internships. Joseph interned at the Alliance to Save Energy, where he helped advance policy priorities to get clean energy workers back to work after COVID-19-related layoffs. As a consultant with E. Johnson Consulting, he led the data collection and analysis process for a meta-analysis, which analyzed consumers' willingness to pay to avert the worst impacts of climate change. Joseph holds bachelor's degrees in public policy and environmental studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In 2019, he was selected as the recipient of the Andrews Fellowship in Environmental Policy.
