Mike Stopka

Joining Buro Happold in 2019, Mike Stopka is a Principal based out of Chicago. He leads sustainability consulting and ESG services globally. For the past 15 years, Mike has focused on environmental and social challenges thru varied roles - within organizations, as a consultant and entrepreneur - providing a broad perspective to diagnose why companies have a lack of sustainability progress and what levers can be pulled to improve. Previously, Mike founded MIST, a sustainability strategy and education firm. He was also the Director of Sustainability at the University of Chicago and founded the sustainability department at the design firm, SCB. Mike is currently faculty at Northwestern University teaching sustainability leadership and advises several boards. Clients include tech companies, universities, cities, non-profits, start-ups, venture capital funds, real estate entities and healthcare systems. He is inspired by sharing knowledge, learning, and being a connector for people working on different parts of the massive climate challenge we face.
