Robert Lempert is director of the Frederick S. Pardee Center for Longer Range Global Policy and the Future Human Condition at RAND. His research focuses decision-making under uncertainty, with an emphasis on climate change, energy and the environment. He was a contributor to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007 along with Vice President Al Gore.An internationally known scholar in the field of decision-making under conditions of deep uncertainty, Lempert is a fellow of the American Physical Society, a member of the National Academy of Science's Climate Research Committee, and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. He has led studies on climate change policy, the environment, energy, national security strategies, and science and technology investment strategies for clients that include the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, the U.S. Department of Energy, the National Science Foundation, and several multinational firms.
