KFC has switched from cardboard to paper wrapping in an attempt to reduce packaging by 1,400 tons.
The fast food chain’s Fillet and Zinger burgers will be repackaged in paper wrappers, and the Colonel’s and Variety meals will move to paper bags. In February, the Mini Fillet burgers will ditch foil for paper wrapping.
According to Martin Shuker, KFC’s managing director, the initiative shows the company’s commitment to sustainable practices.
KFC’s larger environmental strategy includes a move to stop offering eat-in meals in cardboard boxes and the recycling of 7,702,667 liters of cooking oil each year.
