One member asks, “We are working with our third‑party logistics delivery partner as they begin transporting thousands of new medical devices to approximately 2,700 U.S. locations over the next few years. As part of this effort, we’re exploring options for them to take back and responsibly recycle the packaging materials associated with these equipment shipments. If members of the network have a list of nationwide recyclers—or recommendations based on direct experience—we would greatly appreciate any leads.” Read More

One member asks, “We are also looking for organizations that handle office or medical office decommissioning, with a focus on reuse pathways such as equipment repurposing, donation, recycling, and—only as a last resort—waste disposal. Is there some sort of system/platform that you are using or is there a point person responsible to manage potential disclosure requirements? We do not have a formal ESG Controller which is where I would assume this task may sit with, otherwise it could also be the responsibility of sustainability, financial reporting or legal? Currently our process is a bit ad-hoc but would love to hear of how others are managing this. We are considering an internal tracking document with shared access to relevant departments.” Read More

One member asks, “Do any members have experience or recommendations for good tools to get a handle on inbound transport emissions – e.g., being able to automate emissions calcs knowing port or origin and arrival for ocean freight (using actual navigation lanes and not “as the crow flies” estimates). I’ve seen more tools and discussion on product-level emissions, not so much on transport.” Read More

One member asks, “We are wondering if any companies have transitioned away from offering disposable coffee cups to employees as part of their operational waste reduction strategy and how did that go? If they did transition from disposable, did they provide employees with reusable cups/tumblers to use in the office? One member asks, “Given the increase in greenwashing regulations and overall scrutiny from providing misleading statements, my team has been discussing the development of an internal “claims policy” to clearly define how employees can most accurately communicate our sustainability and climate-related achievements. Have any members implemented something similar? If so, is it a standalone policy, or is it incorporated into an existing environmental, sustainability, or ESG policy?
