About the session

What’s covered

What if we’ve been building a whole class of climate tech companies for the wrong endgame? What if the real destination is becoming a long-term partner to corporates – not acquisition by them – and what would we build differently if that were the goal?

The climate tech community has long operated under a single assumption: build fast, raise big, and exit through M&A or IPO. But what if that’s not what corporations actually want? The data tells a different story. Most corporations aren’t looking to acquire companies — they’re looking to buy products, materials, and equipment from stable, long-term providers. And yet, we keep asking them to play by VC rules.

This 90-minute workshop, building on Trellis’ two previous Climate Tech Commercialization Forums, challenges that assumption. Drawing on new research, case studies, and lessons from real corporate-startup partnerships, we’ll explore what it looks like to build a fundamentally different commercialization pathway — one where the corporate is the end goal, not a stepping stone to the next funding round.

Join us to help define what a new commercialization ecosystem looks like and trailblaze this new pathway together.
