The U.S. faces a critical gap in domestic supply of the metals powering defense, energy, and advanced manufacturing. This session brings together eight pioneering startups developing  technologies to recover critical minerals and materials from secondary streams — including e-waste, spent batteries, and industrial residues — to reduce U.S. dependence on foreign sources. Backed by NSF and STRIDE Ventures, these teams are translating cutting-edge biological, chemical, and physical-mechanical processes into scalable, market-ready recovery solutions.  Attendees will hear how these companies are moving from breakthrough technology to commercial deployment, and what that means for building a more resilient and secure domestic supply chain.
