About the session

What’s covered

A detailed look at proposed updates to Scope 2 and SBTi standards and their implications for corporate climate action.

As corporate climate goals intensify, the standards that guide greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting are undergoing significant revisions—most notably through updates to the GHG Protocol’s Scope 2 Guidance. This comprehensive session, presented in two parts, will explore what these changes mean for companies and how they can influence the path forward.

Part 1 will offer a foundational overview of the Scope 2 revision process, highlight key issues under consideration, and introduce emerging options for electricity-related emissions accounting. Attendees will then participate in interactive roundtable discussions facilitated by members of the Scope 2 Technical Working Group (TWG), diving into specific themes and exchanging perspectives.

Part 2 will build on this foundation with a deeper exploration of the proposed revisions, focusing on strategic implications, theories of change, and emerging metrics. A moderated panel and open Q&A will support candid dialogue around trade-offs, implementation challenges, and opportunities for impact.
